The Grand Aggregate has been contested since 1952 and is awarded for the highest aggregate score over the annual summer prize meeting. It is open to marksmen from any nation.
As of 2024, the Grand Aggregate has been contested seventy-three times and has been won by thirty-eight different marksmen. Cliff Mallett Jnr and Peter Jory are tied for the most wins (5), while Tommy Henry holds the record for the longest time between his first win at the inaugural 1952 event, and his last in 1972, totalling 20 years.
The first non-local to win the Grand Aggregate was Jersey’s Cliff Mallett Jnr, in 1975. In total, Guernsey has the most wins (44), followed by Jersey (19), England (8), Australia (1), and Ireland (1).
Ollie Hudson is the youngest winner of the Grand Aggregate, being aged seventeen when he won the competition in 2016, while Alexander Stewart is the most recent first-time winner of the Grand Aggregate in 2024.
Three marksmen have won the Grand Aggregate in three consecutive years, namely, Geoff Martel (from 1955 to 1957), Bruce Parker (from 1964 to 1966), and Nick Branch (from 2012 to 2014).
Jersey’s Richard Benest holds the record score, dropping just one point en route to winning the 2007 Grand Aggregate to finish with a final aggregate score of 604.96v ex 605.121v, although England’s (and the GBU19’s) Sophie Hodge scored 604.92v on more modern, smaller target faces in 2022.
